New “Mother To Be” Law Starts Today In New York
Today is a good news day for mothers to be in New York State.
A new law is now in effect that gives them more rights in the delivery room.
According to the new bill, which was signed into law at the end of 2024 by New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, mothers to be will now have full access to their doulas in healthcare facilities during their delivery as well as any in-care treatment post delivery.
The new law is an amendment to the current health law in New York State. The original bill was proposed by New York Senator Roxanne J. Persaud in May of 2023 and was passed by both the New York Senate and House before being signed into law by the Governor on December 11th, 2024.
This is not the only new law that will go into effect this month. Many laws that get signed by the governor have a waiting period before they officially become a law in the state to allow affected parties to make sure they are able to handle the change in the law or a new law.
