Another round of lake effect snow is expected to pound parts of New York State this week.

The Polar Vortex is set to sink south and bring with it some bone-chilling cold temperatures and another couple of inches to several feet of lake effect snow.

Depending on where you live, you could get a dusting to over two feet of new snow. Most of the heavy lake effect snow will be in the Southtowns and Southern Tier areas of Western New York.

That additional snow will be on top of some very heavy snow that came down over the area from a massive winter storm last week. Some towns in New York State saw over 3 feet of snow.

Winter Storm Watches have been issued for Western New York and Northern New York. The watch has been issued for Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Hamilton, Northern Warren, and Northern Fulton counties.

These watches and advisories will start on Wednesday and last until Friday for most of the region.

The snow is expected to impact travel around the area as well. Give yourself plenty of time to get to and from work or school on Thursday and Friday.

The good news is that the ski resorts will be happy to see more snow. Many of them opened much earlier than normal due to last week's storm and could end up opening up more trails this weekend.
