Things are going to be VERY windy across Western New York today and through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a High Wind Warning for all of Western New York.

High Wind Warning For Western New York

The High Wind Warning is in place this Friday from 7 am until 10 pm for all of Western New York. Wind gusts could hit 60 miles per hour, which could push trash cans and outdoor decorations into the roads and neighbors' yards. I know driving into Downtown Buffalo this morning, there were several trash bins knocked into the road and some cardboard boxes in the middle of the road.

Use caution when driving around Western New York today. The wind could also cause problems with trees and power lines. There is a potential for power outages if lines get knocked down. Remember to never touch a downed power line; just assume it is a live wire. If you see downed power lines, you should contact your local police department to report them.
