
Drought Alert Issued For Parts Of New York State
It has been a dry summer so far across New York State, and parts of the state are under a drought alert.

According to the National Integrated Drought Information System, there are over 900,000 New York residents who are currently impacted by drought conditions across the state.
Even with the dry conditions, this hasn't been the driest year in New York State. In fact, the total precipitation we have received between January and June was slightly above normal.
This year, so far, has been the 36th wettest year on record in New York State. We have had a total of 20.92 inches of total precipitation. That is 1.77 inches above normal for the state.
The worst drought conditions are in Western New York, where the drought level is at D-1 which is a moderate drought.
Other parts of New York State are at D-0, which is abnormally dry. 45.5% of New York State is under a D-0 designation for being abnormally dry.
What To Do During Drought Conditions In New York State
