We're not sure how this seems to keep happening, but we've made it to the end of another week in 2025 and now that May has arrived, you would think that the April showers will not continue. However, the recent weather forecasts show that the rain will continue through the weekend in Western New York. But, no matter how much rain falls, we're not going to let a little wetness stop us from enjoying a few days away from work.

Life marches on, and if you haven't finalized your weekend plans, we have a great list of ideas and suggestions that may help you decide how you're going to spend the little bit of free time we get at the end of the week. There are usually tons of things to do all around Western New York, and the first weekend in May isn't any different.

Buffalo is a great place to spend your time and money celebrating fun, food, and family, so whether you want to do something more relaxing or something exciting, you can find it in the 716.

If you're into sports, this weekend is big for Lacrosse and horse racing as the Bandits are in the playoffs and the Kentucky Derby is this weekend; but that's not the only thing going on if you're on the lookout for fun adult activities or things for the family.

What's Happening This Weekend?

On the sports front, the Buffalo Bandits start game one of a best-of-three series against the Vancouver Warriors. Downtown Buffalo should be full of Orange and Black as Banditland turns up at the KeyBank Center Friday night at 7:30.

If that's not enough for you, the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby is set for Saturday afternoon, and there are going to be all sorts of Derby watch parties all over the 716. USA Today has Journalism as the favorite to win it all this year.
