1 – Early morning rain showers will start to taper off by this afternoon but a cold front is set to drop the temperature as well as the day goes on. We are looking at a high of 53 today, which is where we are at right now, by this afternoon the temperatures will drop into the low 40s.

2 – If you are traveling this weekend, you will have to deal with some snow in Western New York. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for parts of the 716 starting on Friday morning at 7 am and going all the way through 7 am on Monday. The winter storm watch is in place for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties and we could see up to 7 inches of snow and wind gusts of 30 miles per hour during that time frame. It could cause whiteout conditions and impact travel around the area.

3 – Tonight could be a record-breaking night here in New York. The jackpot for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing is $489 million dollars and if someone in New York State were to win the grand prize, that would be the largest lottery jackpot ever won in New York State. The current record is $476 million dollars which was won in April of 2023 with the Mega Millions drawing. If you are getting a ticket, good luck and don’t forget us little people.

4 – Double-check your Powerball ticket this morning. There was one “Big Money” winning ticket sold in New York from last night’s drawing. That ticket matched four out of five numbers and also had the Powerball number and won the 3rd place prize of $50,000. You can get the winning numbers using our station App.

5– Most Western New Yorkers are off this Friday as part of a long Thanksgiving Day weekend, but is “Black Friday” an official state holiday in New York? The simple answer is no, unlike states like Minnesota and Georgia, the Friday after Thanksgiving is not a state or federal holiday which means government services and banks will be open on Friday.
