Here Is What’s Happening In Western New York: Wednesday Edition
Here is what's happening around the 716 for your Wednesday.
1-This morning’s commute will be nice and dry in Western New York, but that will change this afternoon. Rain and wet snow are expected to move into the area later this afternoon, and that could make for a sloppy commute home. The rain is expected to turn into snow by this evening, and most of Western New York will get a dusting, with more expected in the Southtowns and Southern tier.
2—It is not often that you set a new warm weather record in December in Buffalo, but that is exactly what happened in Buffalo yesterday. A high temperature of 52 was recorded at the Buffalo Airport yesterday morning around 2 a.m., and that turned out to be the 253rd time that Buffalo reached a high of 50 or more this year, setting a new record. The old record of 252 days with 50 degrees or warmer was set back in 1946.
3- 2024 will be wrapping up in a couple of weeks and now is the final time you can see if New York State owes you any money. New York has $19 billion dollars in unclaimed money and some of that could be yours. It takes about 5 minutes to check the State Comptroller's office’s website to see if you are owed any money. So far this year New York State has given back over $550 million dollars in unclaimed funds to residents.
4- There was no grand prize winner from last night’s Mega Millions drawing but don’t toss those tickets just yet. The New York State Lottery announced that there were 7 “Big Money” winning tickets sold in New York from Tuesday’s drawing. Each one of those tickets won at least $10,000. You can get the latest lottery numbers anytime using our station APP.
