What Is The 12-Inch Law In Buffalo, New York?

I was curious about the parking laws that are specific to the Queen City. I have been working downtown for 30 years and use a parking lot. But this past weekend, we parked on the street to have dinner at a local restaurant. What I did not know until now was what the 12-Inch Law is.

If you park more than 12 inches/1 foot from the curb, you can be fined as much as $50 for "Stopped, standing or parked more than 12 inches from curb". The same fines apply to those "Standing or parked within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection or other marked crosswalk".

When the Buffalo Sabres season starts, or you attend a concert, go to dinner, or visit a friend, this is a law you need to know in Buffalo. SO make sure you remember to park 12 inches or less from the curb to avoid getting a ticket.
