When you think of food available in a mall food court, most Buffalo shoppers picture fast-made burgers, soft pretzels, and pizza slices. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course. Greasy, carb-heavy grub comes with the territory when you’re spending your weekend afternoon on a marathon mall shopping spree.

But if one of your goals for the new year is to eat better, it can be hard to find something nutritious on the go - especially when you’re out shopping at the mall.

Starving Walden Galleria shoppers will now have a new, healthier option while they’re out spending their money at the mall this spring, courtesy of our neighbors to the north.

Since opening its doors in 2001, Osmow’s Shawarma, a family-owned Canadian chain, has expanded to over 135 locations across the North East. The nearest Osmow’s location is just over the border in Niagara Falls, Ontario - but this spring, hungry Buffalo shoppers can grab one of their modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes here in the US when they open their newest location inside the food court of the Galleria.

One of Osmow’s most popular menu items is, of course, the one in their namesake - shawarma - a marinated meat dish stacked onto a rotating skewer or cone that is usually served in a pita, wrap or sandwich with veggies.

Their menu also boasts classics like pita wraps, falafel, and baklava, along with modern twists like shawarma poutine and a create-your-own “Oz Box.”

Buffalo foodies looking for a healthier place to grab food on the go or stop for a quick lunch will have to check out this new spot inside the Galleria when it opens this coming spring.
