Looking for the best haunted houses in New York State? These 5 have been voted the most likely to scare the bad words out of you.
There are people who hate being scared, and then there are people who wait all year for it. If you love the spooky stuff, this is your peak season.
A publication called "Fright Find" searches the entire country for the best of the best when it comes to haunted houses every year. The coolest part is that it offers lists of haunted houses, and actual places that are known to be haunted. Click here to see their extensive list of haunted places across the country.
As far as places here in New York, they included these:
1. Headless Horseman (778 Broadway Route 9W, Ulster Park, NY 12487, USA) - As you can tell from the trailer above, this one is super spooky. It made multiple lists as one of the spookiest in the entire country. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
2. Tagsylvania (3037 State Route 352, Big Flats, NY 14814, USA) - This one can be found in Big Flats, NY. It includes not only a haunted house, but also a haunted trail, 3D circus show, and now, an escape room.
3. Chamber of Horrors (1745 Express Drive North, Hauppauge, NY 11717) - On Long Island, NY. It's described as "Long Island’s most unique, exciting and absolutely terrifying haunted attraction."
4. Darkside Haunted House (5184 Route 25A, Wading River, NY 11933) - Another haunt on Long Island. "With over 14,000 Scare ft and over 30 of the most detailed scenes of Fright! Darkside Haunted House is both an indoor and outdoor Attraction in one."
5. Frightworld Screampark (1001 Hertel Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14216) - Buffalo's scariest haunted house. Plan some time for this one. It could take you hours to get through all of the different scenes.
6. Gateway's Haunted Playhouse (215 S Country Rd, Bellport, New York 11713) - This one is filled with actors who fulfil a specific role. "As a division of the Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County, Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse utilizes the numerous theatrical designers and staff at the Gateway – Long Island’s oldest professional theatre. Dozens of professionally trained actors prepare and rehearse each character that inhabits the haunt, giving it a unique, theatrical quality unrivaled on the island."
