New York’s Most Difficult Wordle Puzzle Of 2024

Millions of people across the world play the word game "Wordle" every day.  Recently a study was done to find out the puzzles that people needed the most help with.

What is Wordle?

Wordle is a word game.  Every day there is a new puzzle posted online and people around the globe try to solve it.  The concept is pretty simple on the surface.  It's a five-letter word and you have to guess it.  You get six tries.  After your first guess, you will be able to tell how many letters are right and if they're in the right order depending on how the boxes change color.

If the box turns green in the next line the letter is correct and it's in the right position.  If the box turns yellow the letter that you had in that box is in the puzzle, but it's in a different position.  If the box turns gray, that letter is not in the puzzle at all.

You continue guessing until you get the correct word or you run out of guesses.  It sounds simple but then when you try it, you realize how difficult it can actually be.

What was the toughest Wordle puzzle in 2024?

A study was done recently by Word Unscrambler to find the puzzles across the country that gave people the hardest time in 2024.  They used search data on Google Trends from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, to find the date that people searched the phrase "Wordle hint" the most often. That happened the most with the word DECAL which was a puzzle on May 5, 2024.  

In New York State it was different though.  In New York, we were searching for hints the most on April 21, 2024.  The puzzle that day was JOLLY.  It's tough when words have double letters because it doesn't tell you that.  Once you've used a letter, you think it's gone but it can be used more than once in a puzzle.
