If you're planning a wedding you know they can be terribly expensive.  You try to cut corners where you can.  Here are three things you should absolutely NOT go cheap on.

When you're planning your wedding, you have to make every single dollar count.  If you do it right, you'll only do it once.  But it's tough to decide what you don't need to spend a lot on when everything seems to be so expensive.  So how do you decide?

First of all, let me just say that you do NOT have to go into debt to have a great wedding.  I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true...the only thing matters is the choice you make for your spouse.  Everything else is just extra.

I did make a list of some things that you can do that could save you big money at your wedding.  Things like your guest list, how much you end up actually printing (that adds up from menus to programs), and the date you choose will affect your budget.  They can all be adjusted to save.

However, if you're looking to throw a party that your guests will really have a blast at and be talking about for decades, there are a few things that you shouldn't skimp on.

The Food and Drinks

Never skimp on the food at your wedding.  For some people, that meal is one of the only ones they'll eat all day.  And it's definitely one they will remember...especially if it's bad.  Read the reviews that these companies have and then make a judgment.  Ask around if people have used them in the past and what their experience with them was.  Then believe them.

The Entertainment

What are people going to do after they eat?  Hopefully, they're going to be entertained by whoever it is that you've paid to entertain them.  Whether that's a band, a DJ, or a solo singer, you want someone that is going to be able to give you the celebration that you're hoping for.  Hooking your phone into a speaker will NOT give you the same effect as a DJ who can read a crowd and keep your night moving slowly.  Will it be cheaper?  Absolutely it will.  Will you regret it?  You probably will. Hire someone who puts work in ahead of time.  Will they meet with you prior to the wedding?  Will you be able to work through your timeline with them?  These are the people that earn more...because they're worth it.

The Photographer

If you throw the party that you envisioned, you want someone who is going to be able to capture all those moments so that you can remember them as they were for the rest of your life.  Photography is an art.  Some people have an eye for it.  Others just don't.  Can you get great pictures out of a phone these days?  You sure can.  But when you pay for a photographer who is really skilled at their craft they will turn out perfect every time.  The technology that they have to make your pictures look amazing is incredible.  Don't skimp on the photographer or every time you look at that picture on the wall, you'll wish you had spent the money when you had the chance.
