Brandon Beane Responds To “Allen Is Overrated” Statement
Weeks ago an NFL executive called Josh Allen "overrated." Today, Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane had the opportunity to respond to that statement.
With Training Camp finally here, we not only get to see the players out on the field for the first time in what feels like forever, but we also get to hear from coaches and executives a little more too.
It's been weeks since a story was circulated that an NFL Executive had called Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen "overrated." It's a statement that a lot of people agreed was absurd. Even if he hasn't won the big one or been able to get over the hump with his team, his individual numbers are very good.
So what does Bills General Manager Brandon Beane think about the statement? He was asked that question today by WIVB's Josh Reed.
While he admitted himself that he was biased because "Josh is our guy," he went on to say that as much as you try to ignore it, it can be frustrating to hear it.
"If I was going to use the word 'rated' I would say he is underrated before I would say overrated." - Brandon Beane
Another problem that Beane had with the accusation was that the person who allegedly said it didn't put their name on it. There was simply a report that "an NFL executive" had said it. He said that just because it's on ESPN and other sports stations doesn't mean we need to give it any validation.
We will certainly get a better glimpse into who Josh Allen is this year as he makes the transition from two wide receivers that he's known very well for the last couple of years, Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, to a whole new group. Will he be able to put up the same numbers with new receivers? We will find out where Josh Allen should be rated after this year is over.
