Veteran Bills Safety Could Be The Perfect Trade Candidate
The NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching, and although the Bills seem to have made as many moves as they can, there might be at least one more.
Brandon Beane has been a very busy man. It's hard to imagine him being far from his phone these days as he's always looking for new ways to hopefully make the team better.
Recently, he pulled the trigger on a trade to bring Amari Cooper to Buffalo to join Josh Allen and it seems to have opened up the offense at least a little. He's forcing teams to pay attention to him which is opening up some of these other receivers to have huge games.
Today though, Beane might be fielding more calls for a depth player. Over the summer, the Buffalo Bills signed a one-year deal with safety Mike Edwards (not to be confused with the lineman of the same name) formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time Super Bowl Champ was hoping to come and make a difference in Buffalo after the departure of Jordan Poyer and the apparent retirement of Micah Hyde. So far, that has yet to happen. After missing significant time due to an injury that he sustained in OTAs, Edwards has not been listed as a starter for the Bills. He's played special teams, but he has been behind Damar Hamlin and newcomer Cole Bishop on the depth chart.
Now, it's being reported by people such as ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that Edwards is open to a trade to a team where he will see more playing time. At this point, almost any time would be more playing time for Edwards. He has been listed on the inactive list for multiple weeks.
There are a lot of questions here. Why aren't the Bills playing him? Who would you like to see them get in return? Which position do the Bills need the most?
The trade deadline is coming up this Tuesday November 5th.
