American Idol Star Expecting 1st Baby From Western New York

You followed his American Idol journey…now he is building a family!

Matt Wilson was a top 20 contender during Season 21 of American Idol, which was filmed in 2023. When he auditioned for the show, Wilson worked as a teacher’s aide at a local daycare center in Buffalo. In his audition video, you can see how playful he is with the kids and how he encourages their goofy side. 

The kids at the daycare told Wilson, “Good luck, Mr. Matt,” as he headed to American Idol to pursue his dream of music. 

Wilson credited his wife, Melisa, for encouraging him to keep singing and going after his dream. 

“She’s really the one who put it all together, so I really appreciate her.”

Wilson told the judges before his initial audition, “It’s been a long time since I really dreamed, and I honestly feel like she’s the reason why I started to dream again.”

“If it wasn’t for [Melisa], then I wouldn’t be in front of you guys.” 

Wilson sailed to Hollywood with his rendition of “For Tonight” by Giveon, showing his appreciation for his wife and his family during his time on Idol and beyond. 

And now, the Wilson family increases by 1. 

Matt Wilson shared the news on his Facebook page, along with some pregnancy photos he took with his wife. 

“Seriously, I am so grateful to God for you, my little miracle. Can’t wait to finally hold you in my arms! I’ll be singing to you in your mama’s belly until then,” Wilson wrote.
