Former Giants star Plaxico Burress is due to be released from prison this week after spending two years  behind bars on a gun charge.

According to CBS/NY, Burress plead guilty in August 2009 to attempted  criminal possession of a weapon and sent off to prison for a couple of years.  He’s scheduled to leave Oneida Correctional Facility on Monday morning , three months early for good behavior.

His lawyer says Burress will travel to his home in Florida, spend time with his family and continue working out while awaiting a resolution to the NFL labor dispute.  Burress says he wants to play again.
