The Buffalo Sabres Could Bring Back the “Buffaslug” Logo?
August is the quietest month of the year for hockey fans. It's a month after the NHL Draft and the start of free agency and the month before player report for training camp.
Still, there are things to get excited about and Sabres fans are happy that the franchise now has the best prospect pool in the entire National Hockey League.
Another thing to look forward to is the fact the NHL is bringing back the popular reverse retro jerseys for the 2022-2023 season.
The alternate jersey campaign was successful two seasons ago and featured the Carolina Hurricanes bringing back the Hartford Whalers colors and logo, as well as the Sabres bringing back the "butter knives" alternate logo with the blue and gold colors. The Sabres used the logo from 1999-2000 to 2005-2006.
A few teams have had their designs leaked for next season, which features the San Jose Sharks honoring the old California Golden Seals franchise.
Many Sabres fans are assuming the black and red jerseys will be making a comeback, with some changes (because you can't roll out the exact same jersey for selling purposes), but a rumor on Tuesday speculated the Sabres would opt for the return of the "Buffaslug" look.
The Sabres switched to the slug jerseys for the 2006-2007 season and wore them regularly through the 2009-2010 season.
The Buffaslug logo was extremely polarizing. While some either liked or didn't mind them, many hated the look. There was even a movement to stop the jersey back in the summer of 2006, when the news of the new jerseys leaked.
This is just a rumor but I'm sure the black and red or the Buffaslug will be the way the Sabres go with the reverse retro.
Even though I don't mind the slug logo, I do hope it's the goat head...
