"Because of the timing of this, students will have no ability to enroll in City Honors or any other criterion based schools. The nearly 700 students who attend Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School will be displaced into schools that are no where near as high performing." ~ Duncan Kirkwood via a press release

The New York Board of Regents voted to deny the renewal application for the school, but community leaders want them to reconsider. There will be a Zoom call today (May 18) to discuss further action, according to a press release sent to me via email. The school's students are 65% African-American, 80% minority and 90% low-income, according to the press release. Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School has a graduation rate of 95%.  You can find out more about the school here.

Parents and the community are encouraged to join the call via Zoom (meeting ID: 885 0512 4690, password: 765942).

According to Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School you can also help by reaching out to government and education leaders. You can get more details and the contact info for the leaders on its website.

"You can help us by reaching out to the Board of Regents, Mayor Brown, Assembly member Peoples-Stokes, Senator Kennedy and Council President Pridgen to share your displeasure of what we believe to be a politically charged, irrational decision." ~ Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School
