    Cortney is a 26-years-old, full time cosmetologist and nail tech at Root 78 Salon and Spa in Newfane. She is "mom" to her boyfriend's son after her boyfriend was incarcerated. Cortney says, "I work very hard to provide for my 5 year old stepson and his father. I take care of everything and am very proud that I could make such a difference in this child's life!" We salute you Cortney!

  • Meet October 18th's Winner, Naficia Wallace!!

    Naficia is a changed woman! She went from selling drugs, going to jail, and being in and out of group homes, to finally turning her life around! She is the mother of 2 boys, a business owner and a home owner! Naficia says, "Since the age of 12 I've had to fend for my self, teach myself about life, and how to be a woman. I taught my self to cook, clean, and grind. Everything I got I grinded hard for. No hand outs. I put myself through school and college. I feel as though I am living proof that no matter how hard you had it you can not make excuses of why you can't get it anything is possible as long as you put your all into it." And for that, we salute you!

  • Meet September 28th's Winner, Feathers Scott!!

    Feathers is 25-years-old and has been self-employed for almost 5 years. She has written 2 books and over 20 ebooks, is a mentor to many and very active in the community! Feathers says, "I consider myself WNY's hardest working woman because I continue to rise in spite of every adversity. My philosophy is 'driven by faith not by sight.'"   • Meet September 21st's Winner, Makala Parks!!

    Makala became a mother at an early age, but she still stayed dedicated and made it through high school! She faced heartache though not long after giving birth, her son's father was murdered! But Makala stayed focused and strong, saying "I still kept my head up and managed to go back to school to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. I'm now working 40 to 60 hours a week working hard for success and will be going back to school in April to become a License Nurse and soon will become a florist!" Today we salute you Makala!

    Fonda is a hard-working woman, who works 7 days a week. She also makes time to volunteer 3 days weekly at her son's school. Last year she even received a volunteer of the year award by Byron Brown! Fonda says, "I care about my children's education and I always push and try to get other parents to come and volunteer."     Zahara Samadi is the mom of 2 boys ages 3 & 12. She is also working on opening her own dispatching/roadside/towing company!     Shantel is a 27-year-old independent woman, who is mom to a 4-year-old daughter. She is working and going to school at UB full-time. As a cervical cancer and domestic abuse survivor, she hopes to inspire other women! She says, "I push myself though because I know I can do it and God is guiding me. I want to be a counselor and a role model to people to let them know you can do it. God is not good God is great. My daughter is my biggest motivation to keep pushing.
