The Weeknd and Daft Punk had a monster hit on their hands when they teamed up to release "Starboy" in 2016. But now, a singer and songwriter by the name of Yasminah claims the two stole the song from her.

In the lawsuit, the singer claims she co-wrote her song "Hooyo" and released the track in 2009, seven years before the release of "Starboy," TMZ reports. While the lyrics in the song are different, the tempo, key and melody of the records are similar.

According to court documents obtained by the site, a number of blog posts have been written in the past which pointed out the similarities between "Starboy" and "Hooyo" and there are also comments on posts that agree.

Yasminah states two of her producers already threatened The Weeknd and the French production duo with lawsuits but never went to court, instead choosing to settle. Unfortunately for the singer, she claims she never received a cut from the settlement and she is now suing The Weeknd and Daft Punk for at least $5 million, according to TMZ.

It's not the first time this year that The Weeknd has been accused of stealing from another artist. In June, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor claimed both The Weeknd and Kanye West jacked his tour production style.

"And I saw Kanye West blatantly rip off—and the Weeknd rip off—our tours production-wise, which I’ll say without any hesitation. And they know," the singer said during an interview with BBC Radio 6.
