Every week I look to spotlight different Go Getta’s who are moving and shaking in their field and true agents of change.  This weeks Go Getta is Lindsey Taylor!

Meet Lindsey

Lindsey Taylor, a native of Buffalo, NY; graduate from Sweet Home High School. He attended Buffalo State College for Undergraduate Studies in Business Marketing. Many may recognize him as an event host and promoter, a college radio host, an employee in Buffalo Public School system or as Coach Lindsey. His journey began in high school; an athlete, Lindsey played football, basketball and ran track. Lindsey maintained honor roll grades which allowed him to receive a New York State Scholar-Athlete Award and other academic scholarships. Before graduating from Sweet Home, he planned the school’s first annual senior class trip, favored by many of his fellow classmates. He entered Buffalo State College in 2006 instantly becoming very active in campus activities and organizations. During these years he was a member on the executive board for the African-American Student Organization and the President on the Student Union Board. He was also a member of the Caribbean Student Organization, Student Life and the radio host for WBNY 91.3.  Being involved in the campus life gave him the opportunity to build a network throughout other universities in Buffalo.

During the spring of 2007, he became the founder of Crown Entertainment and Promotions. Developing rapidly, the company became one of the leading brands not only in Buffalo but across New York State in Rochester, Syracuse and NYC. Over the past five years, Crown Entertainment has been able to do business with MTV, BET, Def Jam, HOT 97, and Power 105. Lindsey’s vision for Crown Entertainment however was not only intended to focus on nightlife, but to be used as a foundation to grasp the attention and support of the community. Crown Entertainment did, what most would say, anything and everything; from nightlife events, concert promotions, talent shows, skating parties, and college trips. What made Crown Entertainment special was that its main priority was to give back to the community. They became involved in the Adopt-A-Highway Program (Grant Street exit), sponsored various charity events and established BALLIN’ FOR A CAUSE. Ballin’For a Cause, a 5-on-5 charity basketball tournament, has become a staple sporting event in WNY. Attracting over 32 teams from all over New York State, the annual event raises awareness for local WNY non-profit organizations and charities. Crown Entertainment has also had the pleasure in hosting events for local politicians such as Mayor Byron Brown and Senator Antoine Thompson.

In 2010, he launched the Sports Academy Youth Sports & Leadership Program. The program has given over 300 youth the opportunity to be involved in various sports and extra-curricular activities. The Sports Academy mission is to promote academic and athletic skills to our youth.  The Academy’s main focus is to motivate youth to stay in school and create a foundation for becoming a leader in their community. Not only do we want our youth excel on the playing field but also in their classrooms and community.

Lindsey’ accomplishments could not have be possible without God, the support of his family, his Crown Entertainment family, the Sports Academy team, friends and all those who supported him and gave him the opportunity to make it all happen.
