Topic: Should Unhealthy People Pay More For Health Benefits?

OVERVIEW: I’m sure that each and every one of us has a family member or friend or, knows of someone that is either overweight, smokes, drinks excessively and practices unhealthy living! People who pig out on fried foods, fast foods, fattening foods, starchy foods, and sugary soft drinks and never take the time to become consciously aware of what they are consuming on a daily basis and how it alters the body, they never exercise or even walk after eating to burn calories and stay fit.

Know Thyself Community Wednesday Video of The Week

I must say that it is truly a pleasure to be able to post a video filled with purpose and positivity. About a month or so ago, I stumbled up on a CD by an artist named Declaime. Now what really caught my eye was the title of the CD (“Self Study”) and artwork of the jewel case that is right in line with WBLK’s Know Thyself Campaign. As I began to listen to the CD, I was very impressed with what Declaime was writing and speaking about that I had to play it on the air right away. The two songs that really got my attention were “Quartz” and “Poet”. Well it looks as if “Quartz” will be the second official single release from the CD.

TOPIC: Is Mass Media and Entertainment Solely To Blame for Negative Behavior—WHERE’S THE PARENTS?

OVERVIEW: I think that everyone in our community, this nation, and around the world would admit that we are constantly faced with many issues and challenges like never before! Are We Ready To Reclaim Our Cultural Heritage And Humanity? Know Thyself Community Wednesday

KNOW THYSELF COMMUNITY WEDNESDAY

Are we ready to reclaim our cultural heritage and humanity?

OVERVIEW:

We received an email back in October of last year from Brother Akhu Ra for our Community Payroll contest when we were looking for solutions to the issues facing our community.

Brother Akhu Ra writes:

The issue which plagues our community is fundamentally an issue of humanity. The human rights of our community have been taken away by historical, political, as well as economic factors which have left us without our human heritage.

Saving The Ojibwe Language Through Hip Hop-Know Thyself [VIDEO]

Now here is a story about a group of indigenous people in Minnesota that are trying to save their native language “Ojibwe”. Some of the young members of the community are putting their rap skills to good use by incorporating their native tongue in song. I think that this is a great example of what it means to “Know Thyself” because it speaks to the roots and origins of who this group of people is in relation to their spiritual existence on this planet. They are trying to preserve their inner communication to hold their people together so that the generations to come will never forget who and what they are and always have that native language in which to pass on infinitely.

Unplugging Ourselves From The Matrix: Know Thyself Community Wednesday

How Do We Unplug Ourselves From The Matrix?

Overview: The next paragraph is from the book “Hip Hop Decoded” By The Black Dot
If we breakdown the word Matrix: ma=mother, or in this case, womb, and trix=illusion, you can clearly see that we are being birthed into an illusion. It’s not real! However our perception makes it real. The mind doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not until perception enters the picture. When one is limited  to the basic sensory of perception which is: see, touch, hear, smell, and taste, this makes it even that much harder to determine what is real and what is the Matrix. The Matrix has written certain programs designed to fool our perception into believing that it is real. In a nutshell, this is what the Matrix is all about. However, we must tap into our sixth sense and beyond to crack open the nutshell to understand its inner workings if we are to defeat it.

Know Thyself Community Wednesday

Today on Know Thyself Community Wednesday “Has the Black Community’s Psyche been destroyed? If so, how do we rebuild it”?

The answer is yes (in my humble opinion) because there are a number of areas that we can apply to today’s topic to confirm that we have a splintered spirit and soul among the people in our community.
