Gil Scott Heron the true Foundin Father of "Rap." He was a songwriter, vocalist, novelist and poet, who was best-known for a song he recorded in 1970, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." As a young child my teacher introduced me to the music of Gil Scott-Heron, not truly understanding fully what words were being said,but I knew that the message was speaking to me.

Known to many as the Grandfather of Hip Hop, Gil Scott Heron passed away on May 27, 2011 at the age of 62.
