Swizz Beatz has Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kanye West and Will.i.am in hot water with their label by getting them to promote his site, MegaUpload. If you haven't been paying attention there is a bill on Capitol Hill where they are trying to give the government the right to take down websites which post "illegal" material. Basically giving the government to control what YOU look at or download from the web. Several websites took a stand protested this by blacking out there websites. IE Wikipedia, Google and numerous others.

Well rapper/producer SwizzBeatz got on the file sharing trend early and started the file sharing site megaupload.com. He used his industry connects to help promote his FILE sharing website. The record companies are mad now and requesting that YouTube remove the videos of the artist endorsing FILE SHARING which they are trying so desperately to stop. To me it sounds like record companies are fighting to keep themselves relevant before the Internet people really depended on the record companies to get music. Now with the Internet people really choose what artist become popular, and if they support the artist enough they will go and BUY their album and other merchandise.

This is really nothing new to the black community because there has always been an underground system of buying music IE your local community bootlegger. This example is probably where SwizzBeatz got the idea to start a site like MegaUpload. This is the part that really sounds funny to me "Universal Music Group, issued a “take-down notice” to YouTube, saying the artists’ performances were unauthorized." This is saying if you sign to a major record label your not even ALLOWED to speak on a website YOUenjoy using ? Hurry up and view Kanye's unauthorized performance below before it gets taken down. I can't knock the hustle though.
