After reworking classic R&B songs as part of the #throwbackmusicthursday series, Shanell has released a new mixtape, 'Midnight Mimosas.'

Hosted by DJ E. Sudd, the nine-track collection showcases the 28-year-old singer-songwriter's vocal prowess and skills with the pen. Producers Guitar Boy, Key Cal, FKi, Cool & Dre and DJ Speedy provide the head-nodding R&B soundbeds that complement Shanell's vocals.

Highlights on the mixtape include the melodic 'Boy Stop Playin,' where Shanell yearns for her beau to stop playing around and give her the lovin' that she needs. She follows that with the acoustic guitar-driven ballad 'None Tonigh,t' where she tells her inattentive lover he's not getting any bedroom nookie.

Another romantic slow jam is 'Dedicated.' On it, Shanell affectionately vows to remain faithful to her one and only love. And there's the uptempo 'Catch Me at the Light,' where the Young Money chanteuse tells a prospective lover to hurry up if he wants to make a love connection.

Overall, Shanell's 'Midnight Mimosas' mixtape is the perfect cocktail for those romantic summer nights.

In the meantime, you can check out Shanell this summer when she hits the road on the America’s Most Wanted tour with Lil Wayne. The trek kicks off July 9 in Birmingham, Ala., and wraps up Sept. 1 in Irvine, Calif.
