Heroin has become an epidemic here in Western New York that has no signs of slowing down. In fact the number of deaths from the drug between 2014 and 2015 nearly doubled according to the Erie County Health Department. There were 10 deaths this year alone in the month of March.

Do to the ongoing concern of how this drug is reaching the average American kids, some as young as 12 years of age; there have been a number of initiatives designed to combat this lethal assault on the children and adults here in Western New York.

The Buffalo Police Department has been vigorously attacking the street level drug dealers since February with undercover narcotics officers in an effort to stop the sale of these dangerous drugs.

It was announced today that a cumulative effort from the Buffalo Police, Sheriffs Department, Mayor Byron Brown and others have netted the arrest of seven individuals in a drug raid by authorities.

According to today’s press release from The Erie County Prosecutor’s Office dated May 24, 2016 a total of seven individuals have been arrested and indicted:
1. Eddie V. Thomas
2. Latisa Harden
3. Christopher Brown
4. Reynaldo Castro-Guzman
5. Jorge Ortiz
6. Daniel Loster
7. Josua Negron

Here's what Acting DA Flaherty had to say in the Press Release:
“We cannot let up in this fight to stop the heroin epidemic that continues to grow every day,” says Acting DA Flaherty. “Our office is steadfast in our commitment to prosecute these poison peddlers to the fullest extent of the law.”
