Rihanna skipped Wednesday night’s (Jan. 11) People’s Choice Awards ceremony to do something a little more recreational. The ‘We Found Love’ singer instead attended a L.A. Clippers game. Normally, that wouldn’t be that big of a deal, since artists miss awards galas and fetes all the time due to scheduling conflicts. However, Ri wasn’t miles away. She was actually in the same vicinity, taking in a basketball game that was mere feet away!

The Boombox reports that RiRi took in an NBA match between the Clippers and the Miami Heat, so Ri watched a battle between new Clipper Chris Paul and the Heat’s LeBron James. The game took place at The Staples Center, which is a hop, skip and a jump from where the PCAs took place at the Nokia Theater. Guess Ri wanted to play instead of work and to exchange heels and couture for jeans, a tee and chill out! While that’s certainly her prerogative, it’s surprising that she was in such close proximity and chose to skip a fan-voted show.

RiRi did win the People’s Choice Award for Favorite R&B Artist, but didn’t run across the street to pick it up. Do you guys think that blowing off the PCAs was a bad move on Rihanna’s part or is it no big deal?
