Owner of Famous GiGi's Restaurant in Buffalo has Died

Rest in Peace! The owner of Gigi's soul food restaurant here in Buffalo has passed away!

Tragedy has struck Gigi's Restaurant again! After suffering a fire three years ago, the owner has passed away! Blondine Harvin, who was 80 years old, owned Gigi's, which served delicious soul food on the East side for more than 50 years, according to WIVB. There was a fire at the restaurant three years agao, which caused it to close its location on Ferry Street. GiGi's moved into the same building as the Northland Workforce Training Center later this year.

She was an inspiration to many people here! Rest in Power to a Buffalo legend! As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month, we should reflect on those people, like Blondine, right here in our city who have made history and will be an inspiration to the next generation! Blondine's legacy will live on!
