We hope this doesn’t become a repeated occurrence. But hours after the Prodigy mural was restored to its natural state after it was initially defaced, the artwork has been ruined again by vandals.

In the photo above, the mural was vandalized with red paint. Hopefully, the artwork can be restored. The mural was created by artists Jeff Henriquez and Eli Salome-Diaz in honor of the late Mobb Deep rapper who passed away last month at the age of 42. The artwork is located across the street from the Queensbridge Houses project, which is the rapper's old stomping grounds.

On Saturday (July 8), Henriquez, Eli Salome-Diaz and others spent hours refurbishing the Prodigy mural after it was vandalized with white paint splatter.

“The hood love is strong! 15 hours in one shot to bring back our fallen hip hop general,” said Henriquez on the restoration. “And to all the positive souls brothers and sisters djs tv types and local people. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Henriquez has yet to address the second defacing of the Prodigy mural. It’s time for the police to investigate and try to catch these criminals.
