The History's Channel's TV Series "The Bible" is coming under fire after airing last night's episode that seemed to throw shade at the President. And now the producer's are firing back at critics.

After hearing nothing but good things about the series produced by Marc Burnett and his wife Roma Downey (she also plays Mother Mary), I decided to check it out for myself last night.

I am always happy when brown actors get work, but why this Satan character have to look just like President Obama?

Thousands of folks took to twitter to express their anger at this casting decision, suggesting that the producers intended to portray Obama as an evil character.

The Cable Network shout down all rumors claiming the Satan-Obama link is intentional.

"History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History's 'The Bible' is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history."

Co-Producer Roma Downey adds the sentiment:

"Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love for our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of 'The Bible.'"

Do you think this dismissal was too easily swept under the rug? Or should Marc Burnett and his wife take responsibility for this insensitive casting decision?

If we the viewers noticed the similarity from watching it once, I know the producers noticed in one of the many hours of editing.

What do you think?
