Half of the legendary song writing and performing duo Ashford and Simpson has died.  Nick Ashford who was born in 1942 lost his battle with throat cancer.

Ashford and Simpson are best known for their hit songs like "Ain't No Mountian High Enough", reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand",  and most recently "I'm every Woman" which was recorded by Chaka Khan.  Others who have recorded songs written by Ashford and Simpson include Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, and Ray Charles.
