Millions of South African schoolchildren sang to Nelson Mandela celebrating his 93rd birthday Monday. It touched off a storm of  birthday wishes  worldwide sent to the anti-apartheid icon.

More than 12 million students sang a special a “Happy Birthday” before they started their lessons.

Meantime,  the United Nations is  calling on everyone to give 67 minutes of community service in honor of the man who has given so much of his time.

According to cbsnews.com , the  “Take Action: Inspired Change” campaign  is asking communities to give just over an hour for Nelson Mandela International Day in honor of Mandela’s many years of service.

The  UN created Nelson Mandela International Day two years ago.  It has taken off around the world.
