NEW YORK--Frankea Dabbs, a 20-year old mother is accused of walking her daughter in a stroller into a Manhattan subway station, leaving her there, and getting on a train and leaving.

Dabbs, who was later caught by authorities, said "she is homeless and has fallen on hard-times since recently moving to New York from North Carolina."

"She felt she couldn't take care of the baby and thought she was leaving her in a safe public place," said Stephen Davis, spokesman for the New York Police Department.

Family says mother is in desperate need of help.
