Fans all over the country gathered in Gary, Ind. hometown of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, to celebrate what would have been his 53rd birthday.

Marked by musical performances, a circus and food venders, a four day celebration kicked off Friday (August 26th) in front of Michael's childhood home.

The Jackson family, including Michael's 3 children were among the hundreds in attendance.

Celebrations also took place elsewhere around the country. Fans held a semi-organized 'flash mob' performance, dancing to 'Thriller' in the streets of San Franscisco.

Q-Tip (former member of Tribe Called Quest) performed a special tribute to Michael at his concert in New York.

Fans and stars took to Twitter to send there birthday wishes to the late King of Pop. Chris Brown tweeted, "Happy Birthday Michael!!!! You're the greatest!"

A concert titled 'Micheal Forever: The Tribute Concert' is set to take place October 8th at the Millennium Stadium in Wales with confirmed performances by Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson, Cee-Lo Green and Christina Aguilera.
