Dr. Francis O’Day currently resides in Tonawanda NY with his wife Rachel and their very playful and energetic rescue dog Bauer. Dr. O’Day was born and raised in Buffalo and attended Canisius High School. He earned a BA in Biology at SUNY Albany in 1994. He continued his education at SUNY Buffalo where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. Dr O’Day then went to Los Angeles and completed a 1 year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at UCLA. It was in Los Angeles that he entered the 2 year Orofacial Pain residency program at UCLA. It was in that program where he was trained to treat patients with complex head, neck, TMJ and Orofacial pain. UCLA’s Graduate Orofacial Pain Residency program was the first program in the country to be accredited by the ADA for the treatment of TMJ and Orofacial Pain. These types of conditions include myofascial pain, Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ or TMD), arthritis, tension type headaches, migraines and other types of headaches, facial migraine, neuropathic pain, toothaches of non-dental origin, bite disturbances, oral motor disorders and obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. O’Day returned to WNY in 2004 to bring all of his skills and training with him to his private practice in Tonawanda NY.
Dr. O’Day is an active member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain and a board certified Diplomat of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. He is also a member of the American Headache Society. Dr. O’Day has delivered many lectures educating dentists, dental hygienists, ENT’s, neurologists, patient advocate groups, medical residency groups, and primary care physicians in TMJ and Orofacial Pain.
