Meet Jamyra Green, The People’s Champ MVP Student Athlete of the Week!

Jamyra is an 8th grade student at East Middle in Cheektowaga, who plays basketball! "Jamyra Green has been a honor roll student since kindergarten. She is in the 8th grade taking 9th grade courses, maintaining a 93 GPA, while on the basketball team. She is fluent in Spanish, all while being partially blind in 1 eye. She is an outstanding daughter and roll model to her 3 little sisters."

Amarfio is a 6th grade student athlete who participates in wrestling, football, boxing and baseball at Maple Avenue School in Niagara Falls! "Amarfio Reynolds is a straight A student and picked by teachers as a great role model. He trains for his sports with his heart and always gives his all. Wrestling is his favorite because it's you against your opponent and the outcome depends on you!"

Jalen is an 8th grade student at Niagara Wheatfield, who Varsity Basketball. "Jalen is an 8th grade, 5'11" starting point guard for Niagara Wheatfield's Varsity basketball team. He has played and excelled in many sports growing up but the basketball court is undoubtedly his home. At only 14 years old, in his first year of Varsity, he is excelling and exceeding everyone's expectations. He is PG for the WNY Elite AAU Basketball Team and is ranked Nationally among the Class of 2021. He is a hard working, excellent student and role model! He dedicates his free time to training, and has spent years waking up at 6am on weekends training hard when he doesn't have games. He is a very driven and focused student athlete with a bright future who takes no days off!"

Kahniya is an 8th student at North Park Junior High School in Lockport, who participates in track! "Since her 7th grade year, Kahniya has been excelling in track against girls 5 years her senior. From seasonal to indoor track she has made her mark. She currently holds the number one spot for the 55 meter dash in indoor track. Competing against older children has never steered her away from doing her best. During the Spring '16 season she had the opportunity to run on the same team as her big brother Kahlil James, class of 2016. She is a bright young lady that really knows how to brighten up a room. At every meet you can gear her loudly cheering on her teammates, during every event. Although working hard to perfect her craft, Kahniya makes sure to maintain good grades managing to receive honor or merit roll status every quarter."

Nia is a 12th grader at Tapestry Charter HS, who is on the Varsity Girl's Basketball team! "Nia is a senior at Tapestry Charter HS. She has seen some great basketball milestones in her four years. In her freshman year the Tapestry Thunderhawks won the Section 6 C1 championship, in her sophomore year she was All Charter HS and Player of the Year, in her junior year she was named All WNY 4th team, All Charter HS MVP and earned her 1,000 career scoring points. Just recently Tapestry Charter HS won the championship in the 11th Annual McKinley HS Holiday Tournament where Nia Caver was named MVP." Keep representin' Nia!!

Nevaeh is an 8th grader, who plays basketball at Maryvale Middle School in Cheektowaga! "Nevaeh is part of the National Junior Honors Society at her school which allows her to assist her peers in the school when needed, and to serve as a role model for the incoming middle school students. This year Nevaeh is taking two advance placement classes in Math and Science, and will go into high school already having high school credits under her belt. Academics is important to Nevaeh and she maintains honor roll status all while juggling basketball and her other school activities. She is loving, respectful, and empathetic with a huge heart for helping others. Nevaeh is a great daughter and her parents are very proud of her achievements on and off the court." Nevaeh, you are the real MVP girl!!

Justin is a 9th grade student at Niagara Wheatfield, who participates in Wrestling! "Justin has been wrestling since he was 4 years old year round. He was a NYWAY State champion 3 years in a row and USA State champion 1 year after that, He made Varsity at the age of 12 years old in 7th grade and that year was 2nd in section, in 8th grade at 13 years old last year he placed 1st in section 6 and went to States and placed 6th. He is not only a athlete, but a honor student and involved in reffing for the youth wrestlers on his only day off during the week, he enjoys helping them learn the sport. He attends youth group to learn the ways of the lord and he always gives the glory to GOD!"

Aviance is a senior at Depew High, who participates in basketball and track! "Aviance is a transfer from Cleve-Hill, where she assisted the team in winning the division championship in her sophomore year and since her transfer she has assisted the the program in going further than it has ever been in school history. She competed at the state level for track last year and her name is on the record books at both schools. She is currently averaging 20 + points per game for this season. Aviance does all this while maintaining a 3.0 GPA and a part time job. She also volunteers at the Boys and Girls club in her spare time." You're dope Aviance! Keep up the great work Champ!

Antwain is an 8th grade football player at Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School! "Antwain is one exceptional young man. He is very involved with volunteering in his neighborhood. Throughout the summer he spent his spare time cutting grass for three elderly women. He is currently Captain of his undefeated Cataract Eagles with a record of 8-0. He was just awarded Defensive MVP and plays RB/MLB. His team is currently in the Pop Warner playoffs with two wins away from playing on ESPN in Disney. His accomplishments on and off the field truly makes me one proud father!"

Treston is a senior at Lockport High, who participates in volleyball and track! "Treston was named to the NFL Team in 2014/15 volleyball Treston has played varsity volleyball for 3 years Indoor Track Last Season Tres broke the school record for the 300 meter dash and his 4 x 200 broke the school record Outdoor Tres has ran outdoor track for 5 years he is currently ranked 2nd in the State and 61st in the nation he has been to nationals 2 years in a row, where he came in 3rd place running emerging elite and his relays finishing 2nd for smr and dmr finishing 4th last year emerging elite."
