On Monday, hysteria broke out at the Mall of America. Supposedly, a massive fight ensued due to rumors that rappers Lil Wayne and Drake were going to make an appearance at the Mall of America, located in Bloomington, Minn. Nine people were arrested at the crowded mall after chairs, curses, and fists started flying rather unexpectedly on Dec. 26, which is one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

According to CNN, at one point, before arrests were made around 4PM, more than 10 separate fights had broken out in and around the food court due to rumors of a Drake/Weezy appearance. A NSFW video surfaced of the fight — titled ‘Huge fight at Mall of America because of Lil Wayne’ — in which hoards of shoppers are seen screaming and fleeing from the Mall of America.

“There were drinks thrown on the floor and chairs being thrown everywhere,” shopper Tess Dessalgne told television station KARE of the fight. Dessalgne also said that “everyone started running toward the fight.” Another shopper at the mall “didn’t really know what was going on” as stores began to shut their doors due to the widespread fighting. However, she soon witnessed police officers “pushing us all away from Nordstrom (department store).”

As for the Drake and Lil Wayne rumors? The Mall of America tweeted that “Drake is not here,” but police officers are still skeptical that his and Weezy’s rumored appearance caused the fight. Bloomington police official Mark Stehlik said, “I’ve heard that and some other things as far as speculation. I don’t know that there’s anything to substantiate that.” Police are still investigating the fights, with Stehlik saying, “Frankly, at this time, we don’t really have any idea, and we might never. It’s hard to say what starts a fight.”

“Unfortunately, as we have witnessed at shopping sites across the country this week, large groups of individuals can come together and create bad situations,” officials at the Mall of America said in a statement. “It is very unfortunate to see these incidents occurring, especially during the holiday shopping season when families are out spending time together.”
