Kanye West is still getting the side eye from tons of fans and the hip hop community for going to meet with President Donald Trump in New York City. While the super producer explained his plans to try and get Trump to have a better perspective of the problems in Chicago, many are still scrutinizing him for taking the meeting with the controversial leader. One figure who is taking Yeezy's side for his decision is rapper Killer Mike, who recently defended the rapper for the move.

The Run the Jewels member spoke with Channel 4 News next to his group mate, El-P, where he addressed West's meeting with the U.S. President back in December. He explained, "It didn’t bother me, why wouldn’t you [meet the President]? Black people shouldn’t have permanent friends or enemies, they should have permanent interest." Mike then compares West's meeting with Trump to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s interactions with former Alabama governor George Wallace. He continued, "If it wasn’t for Dr. Martin Luther King being willing to meet with people like [Governor] George Wallace, Wallace would not have ended up—starting as a racist bigot and ending as a person who found God in some way, and appointed more blacks to his office than any other governor since."

It's a good sign that Yeezy doesn't have enemies in the hip hop community, as he has been working non-stop on new music as of late. Following his The Life of Pablo album last year, he has said that he has another project on the way in the near future, which we're sure his fans will still support regardless of his controversial political views.
