Kendrick Lamar rarely discusses his personal life in interviews but he did talk about his relationship with his longtime girlfriend Whitney Alford on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club this week. The Compton rhymer confirmed that he is engaged to his ladylove.

DJ Envy asked the "These Walls" rhymer about his engagement and if the rumors were true. “Yeah definitely,” he revealed. “I’m loyal to the soil.”

K. Dot explained that it was Alford’s loyalty that made him want to keep her close to him. “At the end of the day, you wanna always have real people around you period, whether it's male or female. Everybody that's been around me, they been around me since day one and I can’t change that,” he said. “I always show respect where respect has been given. People that been by your side, you’re supposed to honor that. And that's how you stand up.”

Alford and Lamar are high school sweethearts and have reportedly been together for 10 years. The couple were spotted together at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
