Kanye West, Drake Give Each Other Props at OVO Fest [VIDEO]
Last night's OVO Fest was a big success for the city of Toronto, Drake's fans and, of course, Drake himself, considering the hype surround his upcoming LP, 'Nothing Was the Same,' -- it's steadily nearing fever pitch. One of the event's biggest moments was another Kanye West surprise appearance.
This appearance was a bit more surprising than the one he did last week at Travi$ Scott's concert because of the perceived cold war between Drake and West. Ever since the Chi-town emcee excluded Drake from 2010's star-studded song, 'All of the Lights,' Drake launched what many perceived to be subliminals aimed at the 'Yeezus' rapper. Arguably the most famed one was, "I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking, watch me take it," on 2011's smash 'I'm On One.'
West's appearance effectively killed the beef if there was any. After performing 'New Slaves' and part of 'All of the Lights,' West paused to acknowledge Drake's accomplishments.
"There's been a lot of rappers in the game that wasn't able to do something like this for this city ... Me and Hov [Jay Z] would've never made 'Watch the Throne' if this n---- hadn't put pressure on us. So I just wanna pay my respects."
Drake later told MTV News, "I think me and Kanye have wanted to express our respect for each other for a long time and sometimes rap, the business, the competitiveness and just the heart behind it forces you to not talk to the people you quietly admire."
Other OVO Fest appearances included The Weeknd and Lil Wayne, who Drake previously was thought to have issues with. Big Sean, J. Cole and Miguel also came through, while Diddy and Mase reunited for 'Feel So Good.'
