Kanye West was unfairly censored at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards and he’s not happy about it.

The Chicago rhymer issued a statement via his publicist on Tuesday (May 19) to address his performance at the BMMAs Sunday (May 17), which left fans feeling confused because a majority of his lyrics were suppressed for being unacceptable by ABC.

The statement was sent to The Hollywood Reporter and it reads:

"Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards. Non-profane lyrics such as 'with my leather black jeans on' were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented."

"It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against. Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned."

As we previously reported, West delivered an energetic performance of "All Day" and "Black Skinhead" despite the over abundance of pyrotechnics and smoke. There was so much fire onstage that it was hard to see him at times.

On top of that, the censors were heavy-handed on the seven-second delay button as 'Ye was heavily censored for much of his performance. According to reports, Yeezy also received a smattering of boos at the end of his set.

Reps for ABC and Dick Clark Productions, who produced the BBMAs, had no comment on the matter.
