R&B singer Justin Timberlake is one of the most popular musicians on Saturday Night Live in the show's storied history, hosting the show five times and absolutely slaying each time. On Sunday night (Feb. 15), JT kicked off SNL's 40th anniversary special with his good friend Jimmy Fallon.

Dressed in black tuxedos, the dynamic duo warmed up the crowd for the night's festivities. Timberlake reeled in the audience with his charisma and boyish charm, while Fallon cracked a few jokes.

Fallon and Timberlake performed an impromptu musical number with each delivering famous lines from SNL's classic sketches in its 40-year history. Over a myriad of beats from classic songs ranging from rap to grunge rock, the pair made references to a number of memorable SNL sketches, including Timberlake's own "D--- in a Box" skit and other shenanigans.

In addition, legendary SNL character Debbie Downer made a quick appearance midway through to inform us that musical numbers on the show usually lead to poor ratings. Both Timberlake and Fallon jokingly quipped that NBC never cared about ratings in the first place. Womp Womp.

Overall, Timberlake and Fallon were both hilarious and surprisingly dope. Watch their fun intro above.
