J. Cole hooks up with fellow Queens rapper 50 Cent for the hometown cut, ‘New York Times.’

In the bonus cut from Cole’s upcoming LP, ‘Born Sinner,’ out June 18, the two rhymers trade verses about their town. The track also features Bas, an artist signed to Cole’s Dreamville Records.

“Once kings, now we pawns in this chess game / Wall Street got black slave bloodstains / Which means we built this city / And never got scraps while the devil got fat,” Cole raps, while 50 contributes to the hook, “You can win anywhere, if you win here.”

There are several high-profile collaborations on ‘Born Sinner.’ Cole recently opened up about working with TLC for ‘Crooked Smile.’

“Once I finally got the hook, the first thing I thought about was TLC,” J. Cole said during an interview with L.A.’s Power 106 today. “It was like, ‘Ah, it would be crazy if we could get them.’ It seemed far-fetched. But they just had these monster records like ‘Unpretty’ and ‘Waterfalls’ that had like great messages and their voices are incredible. I was a big TLC fan.”

He continued about crafting the record. “So, I thought it was far-fetched, but next thing I know, I’m in L.A., in the studio with T-Boz and then I fly to Atlanta. I’m in the studio with Chilli… So, it was an incredible experience.”
