Isaiah Thomas recently opened up about his trade from the #BostonCeltics to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a heartfelt letter to the city of Boston for the Players Tribune. He says that he’s excited to be playing alongside  LeBron James this upcoming season, but he’s still hurt by how his trade went down. The NBA All-Star also doesn’t think that it helped the Celtics.

 

It all started with an awkward conversation with Danny Ainge who is the President of Basketball Operations for the Celtics. While they were talking about a one-year anniversary vacation, it seems Ainge just casually told Isaiah, “I just traded you.” By then, Thomas was ready to just get off of the phone.

“It was basically, you know — I appreciate you reaching out, appreciate you telling me, but there’s really nothing else that you or I need to be saying right now,” Thomas wrote
