Jay Z recently did an interview in New York where he was wearing a 5 percent medallion. Now the question is being asked of whether or not he is a 5 percent-er.

Honestly I appreciate what Jay Z is doing with all the different signs and symbols because it gives our young people an opportunity to become critical thinkers if they choose to do so and will open up their level of understanding to discover SELF, which is so very important in today's climate.

The medallion represents Knowledge of Self (as defined by the Nation of Gods and Earths, the 5 percent), which is clearly defined in the book Knowledge Of Self – A Collection Of Wisdom On Science Of Everything In Life.

THIS VIDEO IS THE TRUTH

Knowledge of Self is the result of a process of self-discovery, but few of us know where to begin when we're ready to start looking deeper. Although self-actualization is the highest of all human needs, it is said that only 5 percent of people ever attain this goal. In the culture of the Nation of Gods and Earths, commonly known as the Five Percent, students are instructed that they must first learn themselves, then their worlds, and then what they must do in order to transform their world for the better. This often intense process has produced thousands of revolutionary thinkers in otherwise desperate environments, where poverty and hopelessness dominate.

Although the 5 percent-ers themselves say that to their knowledge Jay Z has no affiliation with their culture or organization, I think that he is doing a brilliant job of transmitting a positive message to the masses just by wearing the Five Percent flag (medallion) around his neck.
