Living at home with your parents may not be the American Dream, but it is a reality for many of us.

A new survey of more than 2,000 Americans has found that 70% think too many adults who live at home with their folks are actually just avoiding responsibility, while 65% say too many people who come back to the nest after college stay too long.

Thirteen percent of respondents feel no adult should ever live at home with their parents and 57% say kids who return home are holding their parents back from doing what they want with their own lives. There is a caveat to these findings – 80% say it’s fine to live with their parents if they’re trying to save money for their own home.

If you do live at home, you have to do your part. A total of 92% say if you go back to live with your parents, you should do chores, while 82% say you should pay rent.

Of course, there comes a time when all these rules become moot. That’s because 65% say when a child gets a job he or she should move out to his or her own place ASAP.
