Gucci Mane’s Autobiography Is Being Turned Into a Movie
The legend of Gucci Mane, rap's most recent, and arguably most successful comeback kid, is coming to the big screen. On Wednesday (Jan. 17), the rapper announced the project, which will be based on Neil Martinez-Belkin-co-scribed book, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, on Twitter.
"#TheAutoBiographyOfGuccimane is coming to a theatre 🎭near you #DirectorGuccimane #1017Films," Gucci wrote. He didn't include anything about a release date.
The Autobiography of Gucci Mane is a vivid account of the Alabama-born rapper's personal and professional formative years up to his rise as a rap star. It's a New York Times best-seller.
Gucci's had an extremely eventful last year and a half. Since getting out of prison in May of 2016, the rapper's released several projects, gotten married and appeared on a seemingly incalculable amount of tracks as a guest artist. Back in September, he revealed his plans to up the ante even more.
"2018 I'm going 100 percent independent and dropping a mixtape every other day ♂️#MrDavisTheAlbum," he wrote in a tweet. That goal feels like it's an impossible one, but it's clear Gucci's doing a lot in 2018, and doesn't have any plans of slowing up.
Now, the question is, who could play the rapper? Finding someone to mimic the rapper's mannerisms perfectly, while also bearing a strong resemblance. It's hard, but probably not impossible. We'll just have to wait and see.
