The city of Compton has had few successful hip-hop artists that has took over the spotlight such as N.W.A , Dr. Dre & The Game.  These artists have put the west coast on the map when it comes to the genre of Hip-Hop music.  Although these artists have been known for their hardcore gangster rap, there is a new kid on the block bringing a new sound to the industry by the name of Kendrick Lamar.

Kendrick released his newest album "good kid m.A.A.d city" October 22nd, 2012 which has surprised people from both the music and the sales.  First week this album sold over 240,000 copies, putting Kendrick ahead of Rick Ross current album "God Forgives And I Don't" for the fastest selling album in the first week release for 2012.  Kendrick has brought us into his world and lifestyle he experienced growing up in the mean streets of Compton.  Instead of the usually violent music that is expected from west coast artist, this album is more of motivation to better yourself.  He's brought a sound that show's you can be from a negative place and make positive music. With great lyrical content & conceptions, along with different collaboration's on the album with artists like Drake, Dr. Dre & Jay Rock have helped this album earn the status of being a classic.
