Erykah Badu vs. Sade – “Battle of the Headliners”
This morning is a fight of a different type featuring the Neo Soul of Erykah Badu taking on the silky smooth Sade in the “Battle of the Headliners”.
Erykah first single release was in 1996 called “On&On” that exploded to #1 on the R&B chart and was certified gold in 1997.
Her second release “Next Lifetime” also from the same album “Baduizm” as her first single, reached the number one position as well.
She produced a third number one from the album “Live” called “Tyrone” in 1997, that held that position for 6 consecutive weeks.
Born Helen Folasade Adu in Ibadan, Nigeria and raised in London.
Sade is a Grammy Award winning artist with a string of smooth and sensuous grooves that began back in 1984 with the release of “Hang On To Your Love”.
Her most notable single is 1988’s “Paradise” which reached the number one position and stayed there for one week.
