Does Your Personal Life Affect Your Performance in the Workplace?

Long story short, about three weeks ago lewd photos of Democratic congressman, Anthony Weiner surfaced from the depths of the oh-so popular Twitter world. The photos were of intimate exchange between Weiner and a female he met over the social network, and when the public first got wind of them he claimed they were sent by someone who hacked into his account…

mmhmmm sure Weiner…

After trying to sustain that lie for almost a week the seemingly honest Congressman came clean and not only admitted that it was he who sent the pictures, but that he had a total of at least 6 relationships with other women over the last three years…

mmhmmm that sounds a little more like the truth…

But the question that needs to be raised here is, why is this any of the public’s business? What goes on behind closed doors…goes on behind CLOSED doors, leave it there! Don’t get me wrong I understand he’s a political figure and subject to public scrutiny but do you believe someone’s personal life really affects their performance in the workplace?

On the one side, I can see where people would agree with the idea that he needs to resign. I get it, he’s supposed to be a leader, and he’s supposed to be a public figure, therefore he should be a role model. I see that people want to keep the squeaky clean political ideal and try and pretend like its good, honest, people running our country…

Lets be real here, let’s look at the other side of things and try to realize that those politicians are people just like you and me. The man is having relationship problems, and like a dog, he went out at tweeted some young girls and stepped outside his marriage…However, does the fact that this man is bored with his wife affect his ability to make choices about say things like taxes, or what’s best for the people of New York?
